Stabbing Death

On May 21, 2014, at approximately 5:30 AM, members of the Page Police Department responded to the Page Hospital to take a report on a stabbing call.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the investigation revealed that an altercation happened between family members and one person was stabbed several times. While conducting the interview, we found out that the person who was stabbed had died of his injuries. The victim was identified as, 28 year old Jeremiah Welch of Kaibeto, Arizona.

 The Page Police Department's Criminal Investigation detectives were called out to interview witnesses and process the crime scene.

The investigation revealed that the altercation took place at approximately 4:30 AM at a residence on Falcon Drive in Page. Due to the time laps in reporting the assault, the suspect in the stabbing had left the area. An all points bulletin was put out for the suspect and his vehicle. A short time later, Navajo PD called and stated that the vehicle and the suspect were located just outside of Kaibeto, Arizona.

The suspect's, identity is being withheld pending his extradition from the Navajo Nation's jurisdiction. The suspect is currently being held at the Tuba City jail on unrelated tribal charges.
