Rider-Observer Program

Requirements:

  1. Riders must complete the application and sign the Release and Waiver of all Claims form
    1. The application will be maintained by the Page Police Department.
    2. Applications must be renewed every 6 months.
  2. Adult riders may participate in the program a maximum of 8 hours per
    1. Riders must abide by all appearance and participant
  3. Juvenile rides may participate, with legal/guardian permission, a maximum of 4 hours per
    1. Rider must be a minimum age of 14 years
    2. Riders must abide by all appearance and participant
    3. Riders should be participating in conjunction with a school project or have a clear objective related directly to law
  4. No riders of the opposite gender are permitted after 2200 hours.
  5. All riders are subject to a local background, NCIC and warrants
    1. Riders found to have a criminal history will not be permitted to

 

Appearance: As a citizen observer riding with uniformed personnel in a Page Police Department vehicle, members of the public may assume the civilian observer is in some way affiliated with the department. As such, all riders are required to wear appropriate, casual/business attire (i.e., slacks, jeans, button up shirt, polo shirt, t-shirt, shoes, etc.,). Riders must not exhibit an appearance that is detrimental to the image of the Page Police Department. No offensive/vulgar slogans will be acceptable. Failure to conform to these appearance guidelines will result in the cancellation of the ride-along.

 

Participant Instructions: Strict adherence to the following instructions is necessary to safeguard participants and to minimize the possibility of interference with normal departmental activities.

 

  1. Riders shall not participate in any police activity unless directly requested by the
  2. Riders shall not leave the patrol car at the scene of any police activity without first obtaining the permission of the
  3. Riders shall not converse with prisoners, suspects, witnesses, or other parties contacted on police business unless requested by the officer.
  4. Riders shall not interfere with the officer’s activities at any time. Although it is desirable, and you are encouraged to ask questions regarding procedures and activities, it must be done at an appropriate
  5. Riders are not permitted to make any recordings, visual or audio, while participating in the ride along program, unless prior permission has been obtained from an on-duty
  6. Weapons will not be permitted unless you are an AZPOST certified Police Officer.
  7. Officers may terminate the ride along program at his/her discretion at any time. Willful non-compliance by the rider of the rules and regulations of the program will result in immediate termination and will disqualify you for any future participation in the

 

**Page Police Department personnel and immediate family members are excluded from the riding requirements and may ride if approved by the on-duty supervisor. They must however, complete and sign the application form prior to riding**
